I don’t know why they put songs into books. If I’m reading, getting drawn into the world of the book, ripping through sentence after sentence there is nothing that seems more similar to hitting a speed bump at 30mph than hitting a section of song in the book. For starters I don’t wanna sing it in my head, it comes out as my voice and that’s something no one should have to hear. For another there has never been an example of literature in which important information was found in a song. There isn’t going to be a plot point or characterization, or world building. It’s a garnish and one that is bitter to the taste. Stop this nonsense.
