I hear a lot about people being the same. “I’m never going to change”, the money won’t change me, the clothes won’t change me,

From the moment I walked out of the sea I was in a state of constant flux. I never drew my silhouette with ink, I let the edges of the insides define my shape. A seething mass changing minute by minute. I walked behind myself like a centipede.

I am not the same as when I started. I’m not even just me anymore. I’m the books I read on the train, I’m the movies I saw with my dad, I’m every conversation I’ve ever had. A museum of paintings and a crowd of those who have come before me.

I hope in the future I’m unrecognizable.
